1st
and 2nd couples dance the spiral from own sides:
1 – 4 1st
man and 2nd woman turn right hand ¾ and balance in line with
partners. On bar 4, 1st
woman and 2nd man pull back left shoulder to face clockwise and
rejoin hands.
5 – 6 In
a diagonal line, 1st and 2nd couples rotate one place
clockwise. (2nd man and 1st
woman have progressed.)
7 – 8 1st
man and 2nd woman turn right hand ¾ to progressed places on own
side.
9-12 1st couple
cross passing right shoulder and cast round 1st corner to finish,
1st woman between 2nd couple, 1st man between 3rd
couple, facing 1st corner.
13-16 1st
corners pass 1st couple right shoulder and cast round partner to
diagonally opposite corner position
WHILE
1st
couple pass 1st corner right shoulder, then immediately pull back
right shoulder to follow corners to 2nd place own side.
17-20 1st couple cross passing left
shoulder and cast round 2nd corner to finish, 1st man between 2nd
couple, 1st woman between 3rd couple, facing 2nd
corners.
21-24 2nd corners
pass 1st couple left shoulder and cast around partner’s place to
diagonally opposite corner position
WHILE
1st couple pass 2nd
corner left shoulder, then immediately pull back left shoulder to follow
corners to 2nd place own side.
25–28 1st couple set as 1st
corners set advancing diagonally towards one another, all four dance right
hands across half way.
29–32 1st couple set as 2nd
corners set advancing diagonally towards one another, all four dance left hands
across half way.
Note: The execution of bars 9-16 should
be a series of continuous, circular, clockwise movements for the dancing couple
with no breaks in flow. Bars 17-24
should be likewise, but in an anti-clockwise direction.
