4 x 32H for 4 couples in a 4C set devised by Moira Turner & Stella Fogg

1 – 8 1^st and 2^nd couples, also 3^rd and 4^th couples, dance the spiral from own sides.

1 – 4 1^st man and 2^nd woman, also 3^rd man and 4^th woman, turn right hand three-quarters and join left hands, man to man, woman to woman, to form a line on the 2^nd corner diagonal. All balance in line. On bar 4, 1^st woman and 2^nd man, also 3^rd woman and 4^th man, pull back left shoulder to face clockwise and rejoin hands.

5 – 6 In the diagonal line, 1^st and 2^nd couples, also 3^rd and 4^th couples, rotate one place clockwise. (2^nd man and 1^st woman, also 4^th man and 3^rd woman, have progressed.)

7 – 8 1^st man and 2^nd woman, also 3^rd man and 4^th woman, turn right hand three-quarters to progressed places on own side. 1^st man remains facing up and out, 4^th woman out and down.

9 – 16 1^st man dances an 8-bar reel of three in the sideline at the top of the dance (with 2^nd and 4^th men), giving right shoulder to 2^nd man to begin. On bars 15-16, 1^st man crosses from 3^rd man’s to 3^rd woman’s place and again faces up and out

WHILE

4^th woman dances an 8-bar reel of three in the sideline at the bottom of the dance (with 1^st and 3^rd women), giving right shoulder to 3^rd woman to begin. On bars 15-16, 4^th woman crosses from 2^nd woman’s to 2^nd man’s place and again faces out and down. (FIG. 1)

17 – 24 1^st man dances an 8-bar reel of three in the women’s sideline at the top of the dance (with 2^nd and 1^st women), giving left shoulder to 1^st woman to begin. On bars 23-24, 1^st man crosses from 2^nd woman’s to 2^nd man’s place. 2^nd woman (in 1^st place) remains facing out at the end of the reel

WHILE

4^th woman dances an 8-bar reel of three in the men’s sideline at the bottom of the dance (with 4^th and 3^rd men), giving left shoulder to 4^th man to begin. On bars 23-24, 4^th woman crosses from 3^rd man’s to 3^rd woman’s place. (FIG. 2) 3^rd man (in 4^th place) remains facing out at the end of the reel.

25 – 28 2^nd couple cast off behind 1^st couple (2^nd man turning to face down to begin, as for a reel in the sideline) then dance down between 4^th couple to end in 4^th place in the centre of the dance facing partner.

WHILE

3^rd couple cast up behind 4^th couple (3^rd woman turning to face up to begin, as for a reel in the sideline) then dance up between 1^st couple to end in 1^st place in the centre of the dance facing partner.

[Note: Dancers already in motion at the end of bar 24 (2^nd woman and 3^rd man) pass between 1^st and 4^th couples first, as in the centre of a reel of 3.]

29 – 32 3^rd and 2^nd couples set and petronella turn to own sideline.

Dancers finish in the order 3,1,4,2 and the dance is repeated from new positions.
